Needles, Threads, Techniques to Make It All Easy
• Put a straight pin horizontally across the end of a machine made buttonhole before you slash it open with the buttonhole cutter/seam ripper. Cut toward the pin and you will never cut through the bartack.

• Test the position of an embroidery design by sewing the first few stitches with water soluble thread in the needle. If the positioning is good, you can back up to the beginning and restitch it with embroidery thread.

Sometimes the choice of needle or thread is critical to the success of your project.

The following articles were featured in the "Tribune Review's" Sew Easy column, written by Janet G. Staats, Past President of the American Sewing Guild's Pittsburgh Chapter.

We would like to thank Janet for her contributions and hope that you find her articles on
needles and threads  helpful and informative.
