Ready for Something More – All About Blouses

You want to learn more and try garment sewing, or get back to garment sewing but want an update on patterns, techniques and fitting.  So what do you start with when you are not sure where to start?

Blouses Session 1: We’re offering a blouse/top class for all students who have completed a beginning sewing class and are ready for more, want a refresher to update their sewing, or just want to be more confident and modern in making blouses. We’ll look at knowing what you like and picking a pattern, determining your size, and the pre-sew pattern work. See how the basic pattern body adds value to your sewing when you want the same fit for different styles. Learn some modern construction techniques that save you time and help you sew your best. Bring several blouses that you like to fit of – we’ll use those in class. First student to register will be our fitting model in class.

Saturday, October 15, Monroeville, 1 pm – 3:30 pm, $14

embroidered 450 Blouses: Session 2

Looking for a project that a beginner can do, but is sophisticated enough for any level sewer? We’ll have a fitting class on a pattern suitable for beginners -- only a few pattern pieces and very basic construction while at the same time featuring a look you see all over.     This versatile classic yoked blouse, Silhouettes #450, provides a great focus for any embroidery or appliqué work in your future. Made in denim for casual or black and white silk for dressy, either way has the same great fit. The yoke makes a great place for decorative stitching or trims placed under the seams. Make your muslin at home, get personally fitted in class. You will learn how to make correct adjustments for your body type and take the changes to your pattern. Polly will help you determine your best lengths. Optional: bring a pattern you like to compare to your finished muslin.
